sup guys i got a 95 camry 4 cyl. recently ive noticed some bluish/white smoke coming out the muffler when i start the car. happens when the engine is cold. i read somewhere that it could be the valve seals? any ideas?
How does it look when the car is warmed up though?

um ok so what/where are the valve seals? i got no clue lol. im about due for an oil change, so if its burning oil how do i fix this? is replacing the valve seals expensive? when the engine is warm and i start it there is no blue smoke, only when the engine is cold. right when i start the car it farts out a puff of blue smoke then goes away.

for valve seals you'll need to remove the head... its an expensive task just for seals. how many miles do you have on your car? the seals shouldnt go out that easy... hmm. seals arent that expensive though, its just the process of taking off the head and putting it back on... remember when you take off the head you'll need to also reaplace all the gaskets and headbolts to be safe.

i have about 117k on it. can u estimate how much the cost would be for all that? if i dont get it fixed would it damage the engine?
Yes it is bad for your engine and also for the environment.

all that oil burning over time will coat the inside of your catalytic convertor and cause the exhaust not to be catalysed properly and it will come back into engine and cause the car to run a littler hotter and rougher. The porcelain in the catalytic convertor is very sensitive and will not like being coated by all that carbon!
I have the same problem and used CD2 to stop smoke by putting it in when I changed my oil and it actually worked...Would it screw up the catalytic converter if there wasn't one

CD2 is an oil additive that helps out your rings and such. Its not exactly a cure but when used regularly it can prevent/decrease oil burning.
I used it myself on the old galant I had. It would smoke real bad at startup before I used CD2. It didnt completely go away, but it it got it down to just a little puff.
