2007 transmission problems

My Camry has a mind of its own. Step on the accelerator from a stop, wait a second or two and the car decides to lurch forward. Driving at speeds from 25 to 45 and the car shifts up and down constantly looking for a gear. Let your foot off the accelerator and the car "engine brakes" immediately downshifting then shift back up at 20 or 25 mph. I have had it back to the dealer 9 times and Toyota reps say this is normal even though the dealer implemented several technical service bulletins. Normal to me is stepping on the accelerator and expecting the car to immediately respond, and staying in the same gear at a constant speed. Toyota has been absolutely no help and even been belligerent in their responses. What in the world can I do to get help and make the car behave like a car should?

Give Toyota corporate a call at 1-800-331-4311 and speak to someone in customer service. Discuss the situation with them.

I have called customer service, several times. They sent to toyota rep to drive the car. They really were not interested in solving the problem saying "that is the way the car works". Interestingly, I drove three other cars with the same drive train and engine and none of the exhibit the problem. Customer service tends to ignore that fact when I talk to them. They have gotten pretty nasty with me much to my surprise.

I would stilll call customer service again and ask to speak to a supervisor. Point this out to them: "I drove three other cars with the same drive train and engine and none of them exhibit the problem."

THat sounds like a bit of a nightmare.

How old is your car. I was ;looking at a Toyota Camry 2009 but will be looking twice after reading this.

These coperate companies on ly taske note when they have multipkle problems.

They do not know how to judge a problem on an individual basis.

No doubt they will even try to charge you for diagnosis should you insit they check it out.

I bought the car in 2006 (2007 model year )and it only has 13000 miles on it. The dealership and Toyota both say that the transmission has to "learn" my driving habits. I think it needs a tutor. Be careful about the 2009 as the technical service bulletin number "T-SB-0068-08 May 21, 2008 ECM Calibration: Enhancement to Shifting Performance & Smoothness" includes the 2007 through 2009 years as follows:
YEAR(S) MODEL(S) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
2007 – 2009 Camry Engine(s): 2AZ
Transmission(s): 5MT, 5AT
VDS(s): BE46K
2007 – 2008 Solara Engine(s): 2AZ
Transmission(s): 5MT,
