Stereo turns on automatically?

Twice in the past month while driving all of a sudden my stereo turned on automatically while my hands were on the stearing wheel. This last time it happened I went to turn it off and the stereo dash turned off while the music was still playing, I had to hit the stereo button again to get it fully off. It then acted fine afterwards, turning on and off normally.

Also, about a week ago I had to press the stereo button a few times, each more firmly until it turned on. Has anyone seen anything like this before? I'm wondering if the stereo knob has some dirt or dust in there that could be causing this.

A similar issue happened to me. Once in a while (Once a day or so) the Radio turns off. (I usually have the radio always on) And the disk ejects out of the slot. My wife says the radio display gets funky too sometimes. I can not describe this. Dealer says to bring it in but I am afraid I can not reproduce for them. You know that game. What was your outcome?

Actually when I called the dealer and told them I was having stereo issues they didn't blink and eye and ordered a new one for me. I guess they've had numerous complaints so they didn't need me to replicate the issue for them, they just replaced it immediately.

What year cars do each of you have? If you are asking for help it's best to let people know what year Camry you are having problems with, so people with the same generation as your car(s) can respond.

I have had the radio display go out on my 07 XLE with the Bose system. I too couldn't get it do it while at the dealer, but they took my word for it and ordered and installed a new unit. It's been about 10 months and no problems so far.

Same here Fellas,
My radio has been doing the same thing. powering on and off and ejecting the CD. I need to bring it in. Seems to happen on warm days when the dash is hot.

Yes, my problem only seems to happen on really hot days. Brought it into the dealership, once I told them what the problem was they replaced the stereo without any questions, they heard of the problem before. However the replacement stereo is doing the same thing. Prior to turning off the stereo I always lower the volume so I'll just live with it, a minor inconvenience.
