I'm new here!!!
My camry has a big problem. It is a 1992 V6 5-speed. It seems that when its cold outside (I live in Canada) when you hit the gas it starts to accelerate, but then hesitates around 3k rpm then starts accelerating again. Then the same thing will happen around 4 or 5k. I have no real idea what this could be. When its warmer outside its better, but will still happen. The colder it is though, the more it will hesitates. The car gets quite shaky.
I was thinking it might have something to do with fuel delivery???
wow, another, lemme see, lets just throw a pump at it. no, thats not how a diagnostic technician would do it.
first; questions for you:
how does it idle when cold? ok, like pooey?
how does it start? need extra crank time, or does it light of right away?
Does it just kinda feel like a "dead spot" in the gas pedal, or does it actually buck and dive?
answer these questions for me and i'll send some help, I have about three different things it could be, but fuel delivery issues are not usually the cause of this. ( like i said USUALLY )
she is fairley new, a scan tool is the best thing for it, but i will try to answer any questions you have further.

fuel filter has never been changed, but I dont think that would cause something this severe.
It starts fine in cold for an old car, but revs at 2-3 k until she is warm.
When it hesitates, it can be a really violent buck if your giving it alot of gas.
Or it can feel like a slight hesitation if your like in 4th gear.
It lasts for like 1 full second.
I love to argue, but there is truth to what he said, if there is a hesitation the first thing they'll tell ya at the shop is to do a tune up then be ready for more diagnostic time, be sure they do a full tune up.
1. plugs, wirs, cap, rotor (do the v-6 have those, cap/rotor)
2. air filter, fuel filter
3. pcv valve, all vacuum lines checked
4. throttle body cleaning
then let me know whats up with it, it's difficult to diagnos something that may or may not need a routine maintenance item that's buggering up the works. i have a serious buck in my car, but i know damn well the cap is cracked, so i am not gonna bother trying to find the reason why it has an extended crank time until i know for sure that the "common sense" things have been replaced. I f the part is less that $50 it is (in my mind) a tune up item. while they are in there have them remove the IAC and clean out the bore for that. then, well, go from there.
sorry man, cars need maintenance.
but like i said in the tercel forum, you may have other problems but that guy just did a tune up, ( save for fuel filter) so there are tests you can do. fuel volume and fuel pressure tests. considering both are very different they can both cause different reactions.
hope it's a tune up, your baby will love the attention anyway.
