My brake lights don't come on ..Someone suggested that it might be the brake switch or some white box in the trunk....Where is the brake switch and where in the trunk is the white box?..It is not the fuses, cause i checked them all..Does anyone have any other suggestions on what the problem could be..?
does your shift lock still work? cause i had this problem, the brake lights wouldnt go on, and the shift lock system wasnt working... they both get the power from the brake switch... what happened in my case was the power wire to the brake switch was disconnected somewhere in the system... how, i dunno, but i wired up another one... WITH a fuse of course! cause i do shit right...
in your case, i dunno, check continuity with the brake light wire and the wire on the brake switch itself... you should find no resistance or little if that...
lemme know how that goes... they we can help more... i have the schematics, if nothing ends up working, i can talk you through rewiring the whole brake light system.
you all are sooo damn lucky that i have so many pics available at the click of a mouse on my computer... if i dont have it, i will surely take the pic to help out a friendly TN member... this one i had already tho plus i love drawing little maps on them...
see it screws in there, but you need to take the clip off first!!! so the wires dont spin around and get messed up... blue plug i THINK... should be 4 wires on an automatic, due to shift lock, 2 wires on std... JUST for brake lights
I swear i didn't see any of that stuff under there, when i first looked.. So if it is the brake switch, how can i fix it, can i fix the old one?,,, or do i have to buy a new one?
there HAS to be a plug and switch... otherwise, your shifter would be locked up due to the shift lock mechanism... i dunno what to tell you... its there... just flip your body upside down, contort your head to fit under there... and REALLY look... the only way you could prove it to me that its not there is to take a pic of under there...
