i've had extractors fitted to my 3VZ-FE Toyota Camry and my air fuel ratios dropped to 10.4:1 Now i've got no top end power! To fix this i bought an old APEXi Super Air Flow Converter with a 5 knob face to change the ratios back to 12.0:1. it came with a manual so i know how to install it and tune it, BUT my car isn't in there so i cannot setup the AIR FLOW METER SWITCHES or the dial ON THE BACK. Can you help me here. If not can you recommend someone that can help if my problem is too far out?
Hey funny think Im about to order a s-afc apexi digi for my 3vz....so please someone enlighten us. Also if I get it here soon Ill try to install myn and let you know how it goes. But if anyone has any info on this please reply!
Peak power is usually made at (Air fuel ratios) 12:1 these are two totally different things
Does anyone know if it'll fuck my car if the selectors are wrong on the back.
I know too lean ratios will melt it but if the selectors on the back are wrong it just wont start, right?
Extractors, headers, exhaust manifold whatever u wanna call it, its the metal pipe things that take gas out of the engine better than the factory ones.
Yeah, theres a bit of a science here, but the headers did change the ratios and they're not installed wrong. Its got to do with the new efficentcy of the engine flow. Before (with stock pipes) it was really restrictive, now its 1 000 000 times better. The engine management was confused with the change so just decided to rich it up!
The headers were made in Australia, as i live there. Sorry boys. They're for sale if i get AUD$1500 plus frieght for them.
I fucked around for ages with smoke and all kinds of shit coming out of the exhaust, but i got it right eventually. Got it tuned and got another 5 kilo watts all over the rev range.
Max torque on the tuning shops dyno was, wait for it, 344nm @ 3000 rpm!
I'll have to put it on a dyno dynamics too see what they say, as they are the best.
Sorry to the dude that wanted to buy them, im way happy with 344nm at the wheels! I can offer the support in getting some made up at a specialist exhaust place though. Just make sure u can tune them...
