Lightbulb Smog Check Pass or Fail?

hey guys, i have a gen 3 automatic i4 camry
and i was just wondering if i change the cat-back and the muffler, would it greatly affect my chances as to passing the smog test?
oh yea btw, i also have an intake installed, and i dont got that slip or whatever to enable me to use the intake legally...

i ask this because my parents are blaming me that changing the cat-back and muffler will make me fail the test.....and if i fail it, they were saying i better go back to the shop and change it back to stock....which is retarded...

anyways, yea...will i fail the test or pass it with no problems?
thx for the advice.... lates

I think it depends what type of cat-back and muffler you get. What type of exhaust you getting?

Intake will not pass. You'll fail the visual / underhood inspection part of the test.

Catback will pass.

Hey Dave, I will speak from experience. You will definitely pass smog, don't worry about anything. As for your intake, you will need to take it off before you smog otherwise you won't pass. The muffler will be okay, but if you do anything else like slap on headers, you won't pass for sure!!!

Latez,
Calvin

Just put your stock air filter/intake before the smog check. Then after you pass, put your performance intake back on.

sup calvin and rapeacivic, wow thanks for the reply
i'm more at EASE now , you made my day !!!

anyways yea i went to the muffler shop yesterday and got my apexi muffler installed with 2.25 cat back (same size as inlet muffler ).... they used the mandrel bent machine but it was not stainless steel they used, it was aluminum steel...but he said this will attract heat the best...so i guess its not too bad , i paid 120 bux all together for everything, and i noticed a bit more power, on the freeway it when i floored it, i noticed my car enabled me to rev a bit higher...lol go cat back and apexi muffler!!!!
and calvin , u were right, the apexi isnt that loud but only when u floor it , good thing i dont need a silencer ...hehe saved me 40-50 bux..
when i turn on the engine, it makes a bit more ROAR sound, which i loveeeeee ... !!!

so yea everything is fine...hopefully ill get some pics of my car and ill show you guys....i'm gonna have to borrow my aunt's digital camera, so dunno when ill get a hold of that..

i'm glad to have this done before the TN meet
looking forward to going to that event

Here in Michigan, it is SUPER GHETTO. We don't have any sort of inspection/smog test. If it has four wheels, DRIVE IT!!! So there are ghetto clunkers out there that emits black smoke all the time, and it smells like ass when you drive behind them.

This is primarily because of poor downtown Detroit residents who can't afford to pay to fix these things. You need the car to make a living, so if they forbid those people to drive those cars, they'll just die.

Just my two cents.
