I always have it on. Without it acceleration is slow as hell.

What the overdrive button does from my understanding is when your accelerating it makes your car shift gears at higher rpms.

thx rapeacivic...oh yea i got another question
if i were to drag race ( i know i know i would lose!) , its best to put the car into L-GEAR right? then before it gets to redline, shift to 2nd gear?
then shift to Drive Gear when done racing?

no it dosen't... overdrive simply allows you to shift into 4th gear

only drive with it off when towing, and i leave it off when driving really twisty roads, keeps me in the power band for those speeds

Sorry but that's what I was told. But when I have it on it seems to shift at higher rpms when flooring it I also have my ECT button on too.
