Longblock JDM 3S-FE for now.

I'd like to do a 3S-GTE, but I don't want to deal with all the stuff I gotta do to make it all work. Not now anyways.

what would be the differnce between the longblock and the old one....is the long block the one out of the corona?

and what would be involved in a 3sgte swap?

I wonder how different that harness is to a '90 CA manual harness... The wiring in my Camry is flakey (though I personally haven't had problems yet). I'll probably go aftermarket engine management anyway... mmmm... MAP sensor instead of flapper.

The engine comes as a longblock (block and head). Some of them come with intake + exhaust manifold.

So i'll be using it as a longblock with my existing intake + exhaust manifold.

1. Wiring

2. Tranny. I would use a E153, so you either have to modify one from a MR2 Turbo or get one from a V6 Camry / Solara.

3. Custom piping

Probably not that much difference.

Theres some plugs on my harness that are specificly for the auto tranny + computer. Other then that all the other plugs should be the same.

I thought you had a factory electrical manual?

Actually, I don't have the factory electrical manual... just the chassis and engine manuals. I may end up getting them, or just pay for the online membership for a day and download them all.

I haven't decided on an aftermarket computer. Either a used generation old one (TEC II, Accel DEFI, or similar) or a cheaper new one (SDS). I'm sorta looking into it now, but I need the rest of the car in good shape first (and I need it smogged before I can drive it! grrr...). Any suggestions?

The only aftermarket computer I have experience with is the Accel DFI (Gen 7+). My friend has one on his supercharged Mustang.

As for smogging the car, theres ways around it. Just gotta know ppl. Thats all i'm gunna say.

Heh... yeah. I only know people who know people... I have my feelers out, but no real progress yet.

I suppose wiring the aftermarket computer all up wouldn't be hard as long as I had the factory manual. How is the Accel DFI? I know its meant for V8s mostly, but it can be adapted to 4-cylinder cars easily, right?

(now that I've helped out with a couple engine swaps, etc...)

The harness for the DFI pretty much plugs in providing that the plugs on it match up to your sensors, etc...

On my friends Mustang we had to swap some of the sensors for GM ones.

I don't know if theres a harness for Toyota or not. If not you'll have to piece together both harnesses (stock and the one for the DFI).
