2004 Camry CarFAX - Interpretation Help?

I'm considering a 2004 Camry LE w/ 112k miles that seems a little bit suspiciously low priced (dealer is asking just under $7k). I haven't had a chance to see the car in person yet, and am wondering if it's worth the drive (about 4 hours each way).

I looked up the CarFAX and I'm a little confused - the dealer told me it's a 2-owner car, with the 2nd owner owning it for 80k miles and trading it in for a 2009 Camry. Looking at the CarFAX, it states it's a one owner vehicle and was owned as a rental. The last reported odo reading is 30k. I know CarFAX only gets what's reported to a DMV but I thought title transfer would HAVE to be reported to a DMV? And I don't think it's a lag in information since the transfer would have taken place in '05 (when CarFAX says the vehicle is sold). Am I missing something?

either he gave you the wrong carfax to look at, or they were mistaken on their information. Either way, I would not buy this vehicle, mainly because it was a rental. We all know that rental vehicles get treated like crap, and with 112k on it, I wouldnt touch it with a 10 ft pole.

Thanks for the feedback - however I still don't understand. CarFAX says the car was sold on 3/25/2005, but no owner is ever indicated or broken out. If the car seller is lying, why does the CarFAX say the car was sold then?

Have you confronted the owner/seller and asked them about the descrepencies?
