Mixing oils?

OK... 5w-30 is used for the 92 I-4 Camry right?

I had 2 different brands I used in the oil change tonight. I used Castrol advanced miles and Wal-Mart regular 5w-30. Im 90% positive they were both 100% dino oil not synth. That shouldnt be a biggie right?

No, it's not a biggie, but I think the recommended oil for your car should be 10W-30. Check what's written on the top of the oil cap (if it's original) or read your owner's manual. The 5W-30 you used is no biggie either, just check the oil frequently because the engine will use a bit more oil with the thinner weight oil in there, especially this time of the year with warmer temperatures. Switch to 10W-30 on your next oil change.

I agree, not a big deal. Even if one was synthetic and one was dino, you'd basically just be creating your own synthetic blend. I believe Mike is right about 10W-30 being called for but I actually use 10W-40 because of the warm climate and age of the motor. Still purrs like a kitten and is virtually silent at idle

For old Camry Engine, use 10-30W , new VVT-i 3.3 3.5 i think 5-30W and later on 10-30W , for Toyota Engines use always with 5-30W.

Mike is correct, due to the hot weather, we use 10-30W for older engine 130k/m + about more than 120k miles

Camry 92 is ok for 10-30W, if u dont use Synth oil no need for Walmart, go to Bodyshop they cost cheaper including oil-filter.

OK!!! So for a 1992 with 142K miles..... I should use 10w-30? Not 5w-30?

Should be no big deal. I've done the same in my vehicles from time to time trying to finish up partial bottles of oil. No ill effects, I use full synthetic and change my oil every 5000 miles. I've used Amsoil, Mobil1, Castrol, Pennzoil, Quaker State, Supertech, just about all of them, from 10w-30 thru 5w-50 in my Dodge Dakota 4x4. I've used Amsoiil, Mobil1, Purolater, STP and Supertech oil filters.

FYI all, the 2010 Camry LE 2.5 L 4 cylinder uses 0W-20. Trying to boost EPA GPM ratings I assume.
