replacing air filter
Hi all, first time poster here.
Ok, my problem is quite simple. I've read most of the threads on this forum but I don't think anyone has mentioned this problem, so it might be specific to my car. I just got a '90 camry V6 from my dad. I want to replace the air filter because he hasn't replaced it in a while. It's a stock air filter setup so I went ahead and removed the four clips holding the top housing down. BUT, as I try to lift the top off the filter, I feel a lot of resistance. I can move the casing up about 1/2 inch before it stops. The hose connecting the air intake to the throttle seems stiff and doesn't want to budge. Should I go ahead and apply more force, or just remove the hose? I read online that tools are not required for this task, but I don't see how in my current situation.
Thanks for any help. I'm also looking to replace the entire air intake system later on. I don't have much time to do research now, but I've gotten a few leads. Suggestions here would also be great. Nothing fancy or custom, a simple drop in kit with a little elbow grease would be good.
thanks, love this site so far
