I'm planning on installing some neons under the dash in my car (one on driver's side and one on passenger) but I'm wondering if you guys can answer a few questions for me. Yes I've already done quite a few searches but I am looking for opinions and what has worked best for you guys.
I have a gen 4.5 cam.
1. Is it possible to install the tubes and not have them be visible (i just want to see the light, not the tubes)?
2. What size/length tube works best as far as light intensity (i want bright!) and compactness (dont' wanna see tubes)?
3. Lastly, I read a thread about having neons turn on when you open the doors. Does anybody know the exact wire that I can tap into that will allow my neons to turn on when I open ANY door and not just the driver's door?
Thanks guys.

I have regular size underneath my seats. It may not be as bright as below the dash, but it most definately gets the job done and isn't visible. I've heard that you can use a license plate frame under your seat and get even more light, which makes sense. Also, putting them under the seat gets light into the back seats as well, which makes it look a whole lot more even.

see if you can find any sensor or light that turns on when the door opens. similar to the dome. you obviously wouldnt' want to go straight into that though.
but are these going to be for actual use or just for a show car. personally in a daily driver i'd like them to be on w/ my headlights or have a separate switch.

Do you have a picture of your lighted interior? Also, you said it's not as bright as it would be if I had put it under the dash, but do you think it would work better if I had two tubes on each side, one at the front of the seat and one at the rear (better coverage?).
The license plate thing sounds a little ghetto but I'll look into it. Thanks!

This isn't going to be a show car but I just thought it would be cool to have them come on when the door was open. What I actually want to do, now that you mention it, is have two sets of neons (different colors). One set would be hooked up to the door sensor and the other set would be tied in to my headlights so one color would come on only when the door was open, and the other color would come on at night when I turn on my headlights.
I just want to make sure though that the bulbs are hidden if possible and that I get a nice bright glow.
What length tubes are you guys running?

i know they have led undercar kits that make different colors. maybe you could find something shorter and figure out how to wiire them up so you can get different colors like that. I couldn't really help though becaus i've never seen them personally.

I don't know how that'd be ghetto, since it'd be just the same as having two tubes under there. I don't have pictures, but pictures never do justice to neons. They're always much brighter in person. I would do the license plate, or a single tube under each seat. If that's not enough for you, just buy some mini's and put them under the dash. They'd be easier to conceal.
