Supercharger Gasket CTD

It seems my other post isnt showing for some reason...anyway...

I was wondering, does anyone know if the supercharger uses the same gasket that mates to the stock intake manifold or does it use it's own seperate one?

I've gonna be needing a new one so I need to know if I have to order a special part .

When my friends and I installed mine the manual didn't state whether or not to use/reuse the gasket. However my friend, being a mechanic, recomended using it. I've never really found out if he was right. If you had yours dealer installed could you check for me? You can see it sticking out. Its a metal gasket.

Well then... I reused the original metal gasket. Yeah I found it odd that the instructions didn't mention anything about a gasket. So you did the install and used a gasket right?

If I'm not mistaken, I just had the mech. that installed my SC just order a stock intake gasket (along with others) at the time of installation. They're not terribly expensive and ensures you get a proper seal.

Why do you need a new one?

Well I don't need a new one but im changing the IK22's (AGAIN!) before I hit the track this weekend and I figure I might as well change the gasket as long as im taking off the s/c. Not worth risking a leak once its all back together and having to take it apart again .

So are you staying its just the stock intake plenum gasket then? If so I will just order one tommorow...some of the teamsc3 guys seem convinced that its a special TRD one, while others have been saying its a regular one...so I dunno.

That was exactly my thinking

Think logically about it for a second...the SC just mates up where the stock intake plenum was. The SC didn't come with any gaskets and so common sense (or so we assume) would dictate that the stock gasket is fine.

Replacing plugs again?! What happened the first time? and the now?

good luck at the track. get the time slip (assuming it drag).

Yeah I guess i'll just grab the stock gasket then. I've heard some say the S/C came with a special gasket so I thought I would clarify. I sure don't remember any gasket coming with the kit but I was not 100% sure.

My first set of plugs are IK20's which is what im running right now. Lately, ive been getting some hesitation when accelerating and crappy fuel economy so I believe the culprit may be my plugs. I run my car very hard and I would say im overdue for a change of plugs especially considering the shortened life of the iridium ones.

Last time I rolled on the dyno I was catching massive interference from my wires so im swapping those out as well for something that will hopefully have better supression.

Anyway, yeah im gonna be running at the track at Famosa in bakersfield. No headers sadly because XERD is lagging a bit (as predicted) but hopefully I can get some times to compare when I go back later with the headers installed .

ET's should be much better than LACR too since its only around 600 feet above sea level.

err...iridium is supposed to be more durable and have a higher lifespan no?

stick to stock wires if you want performance. If it's for show, get the pretty ones

haha well actually we were having real quantifiable problems with EFI suppression, they were really catching quite a bit of interference when we measured it. Besides, it does look pretty and its not as if my car is a sleeper .

And no, iridium has a much shorter lifespan than platinum. Generally the colder the spark, the shorter the life.
