ok....i used the search and couldnt find this one....what exactly does the catback have over a regular aftermarket muffler....does it produce more power because of new pipe or what.....cus the way i look at it is that a pipes a pipe.....whether new or old, it still does the same thing....or am i wrong about this one???

cat backs are suppose to give you extra hp... thats the general thing it should do, and also have more air flow thru from the engine all the way to the outside of the muffler...
thats why they make aftermarket cat-backs for certain cars...but for camry, no one seems to make em, so u gotta have it custom
oh yea i did see a brullen or the brospeed on a website, but when u search for it, there isnt much to be found, its rare to find a catback done for a gen3 camry...
anyways if your gonna have ur cat back done, try to get stainless steel with mandrel bent... thats the way to go if u want it done right... it might cost alot too tho...
for me , i got aluminized steel cat-back , and the guy told me it attracts heat more better , so i guess its not too bad, and also i had it done with mandrel bent, which was a good thing... its cheap too i got charged around 100 bux....
but anyways i think you should listen to other's peoples opinions also, not just mines.... i'm still a noob when it comes to cars..
what kind of muffler should i get if i get custom piping???i want somethin loud without havin to floor it...cus i need the sound in order to not destroy my engine cus i love that sound...and the less i have to floor for that sound the better

lol hey , ur asian right?
just wondering...
as for the the muffler to get.... hmmm thats a tricky one..
cuz i got an apexi muffler NA n1 universal and i thought it would be loud b/c they also sell the silencer with this model....
but after it got installed, i rev'ed it (also new cat back installed)
it wasnt terrible too loud ...which is the way i like it, only when u floor it , it will be loud... but driving at 2-3 RPM's you will get a low-deep tone sound, and its not all that loud at 2-3 RPM's
so this is a good thing for me cuz i dont wanna get pulled over from the cops....
but anyways, dont get the APEXI if you want loud sound...
i dunno about the other mufflers...
but apexi is one of the top brands there is ...
yea i have a short-ram intake , not sure what the brand is , but paid about 100 bux for it....
yea intakes sure add to the sound of the car, when i start up my car, it rumbles cuz of the muffler, and it makes a shhhhhhh~~ noise, cuz the air is being sucked into the engine at a fast rate....
i'd say the intake is like 40% sound , and muffler 60% , and when both are combined together, you'll know that both of these sounds go nicely together...
and oh yea i forgot to add another thing, when you add an aftermarket intake, your gonna notice that your car gonna be eating up gas alot faster, cuz i remember i can go like 300 miles on a full tank, and now i can go about 270 on a full tank....
i think this applies to most people who have intakes installed, they will notice poor'er gas mileage, so thats why when u get hood inspection, just put back the stock intake so you can pass the smog test ~
yeh...i have noticed the drop in gas mileage cus i have a ractive short ram....and im comin up for inspection in april and gonna put the stock back on til i can make my own CAI
o...forgot one question...if i got the muffler that this guy gives me for the piping that hes doin....how good is this muffler gonna be...what would be the money to power ratio....would it be worth the extra 200 for another muffler

what kinda muffler is he giving you? and what kinda pipe is he using? aluminum steel or stainless steel? i say you go to ebay or some other store to get your own muffler, the guy selling you the muffler from his shop is only simply trying to get rid of that junk that he has..... so i suggest going out to get ur own muffler... have him install you the muffler you got and get him to do ur custom cat-back..
thats my opinion..... i hope someone eles looks at this thread also gives you a reply, cuz it seems i'm the only one doing it right now.. lol
i have a rippmods custom header back system and i love it, but it's loud as hell, the real problem with a loud exhaust is that it points u out to the cops and they tend to harass you, and cops suck....plus if it's too loud u won't pass inspection...just a couple things to consider, but check out rippmods, cuz those guys do awesome work
well in NY there is this damn new law that exhaust mods can't be louder than the stock setup. YES I KNOW ITS FREAKING HORRIBLE! I verfied this with a few cops its a new law. So i will be getting alot of muffler tix this summer.
