Navigation Package Alternative

The Nav package is very expensive. Other than the back up camera...what features do you lose if you just buy an add on GPS and mount on dash. II really liked the Nav in the demo I drove, but I have never used GPS and I see them advertised for several hundred dollars.....so why buy the Toyota package?

If you're a techie the nav package is a must-have. If not, a $100 Garmin is fine. Plus that - you'll be able to replace it or update maps on it very easily when the time comes.

For me it boils down to, do you want the coolness of having it part of the car and getting the goodies with it, or would you be content with it in a small package.
