I recently noticed that my car has been louder than normal. It isn't noticeable from inside the car or from behind but only when standing close to the front of the car. I think it might be an exhaust leak. Has anyone else had this experience? What would the estimated repair cost be? Thanks

I quick visual inspection should let you know right away. I had a leak right at the flange points where one pipe met the next one. I little "cement" and new gasket sealed that baby right up

Yep I had an exhaust leak a while back and it was exactly as you described it. Get it fixed because it does rob you of power. Cost really depends on how bad the leak is. Get Toyota to check it out.

OR this might be a good time to go aftermarket and get a bit more power.

I just replaced the Y-pipe. That's from the exhaust manifolds back to the cat. It had popped a leak on the top part of the ribbed section towards the passenger side. I assume the flex pipe referred to is the ribbed section in each side before the Y. I didn't want to fool with it (I hate exhaust work) so I got a estimate from Midas for replacement. They wanted $289 of which $80 was labor. I took it to a local I use and he put in a better grade of pipe. Total cost was $309 out the door....Frank
PS: Yea, it did sound like a crotch rocket before repair.
