Help! What could be causing the intermittant fuel smell in my 98 Camry?

For the past 4 weeks (after I had the valve cover gasket replaced, btw) I've noticed an intermittant gasoline smell coming from my engine. I've taken it back to the mechanic twice and they say there is no gas leak. It happens after I've driven awhile or just a short distance and when the weather is cold or hot. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I have one very strong suggestion! Clearly if you are taking your car in to be serviced. You might not be up to the task of solving a potentially very dangerous situation. Take it to a reliable garage and let them find it. This is a problem that could lead to fire, or even an explosion environment may exist. For both your safety, and anyone else around those cars get it checked asap.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck and happy driving.

EDIT: Don't take it back to the same place.
