Left rear door wont open!!

Well my left rear door wont open because my brother pulled the handle from the inside while my aunt pulled the door handle from the outside!! Something obviously snapped and is not allowing the handles to be connected to the lock. How do you go about fixing this problem. How do you open it up with out the handles? Also how do you take off the door panel from the inside of the car without the door being open? If i could get the door panel off i could probably get the trigger up to open the door. Thanks

More than likely either the snap clip that holds the outer handle rod broke, or the snap clip is intact, but the rod came out of the hole. I am going through the same problem as I thought I was the only one here with door issues, but from what I see I am just as much a victim. I took off my panel. Do a search there are some good threads telling you how to remove the panel. Then I found that the snap clip that is supposed to be attached to the outer handle rod was severly broken, and not connected. The 2 snap clips cost me around $8.00 from my local Yota Dealership. The passanger door went in fine, but my drivers door doesn't open from either side I have a slim jim, and need sometime mucking around with that to get the drivers door to open, and then I can replace the clip. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask, but definety do a search for door panel removal. Good luck.

You should be able to pop out the door handle and see rod that attaches to the interior door handle... now hope that that one still works and the handle itself broke... grab it with some needle nose pliers and pull to see if that opens the door.

If that doesn't work, you might have to ruin the door panel to get it off with the door closed.

Whoa, talk about thread revival.

This thread is over 2 years old. I'm pretty sure he's done something to fix it over the past 2 years.

I didn't look at the date when it had been posted my bad. I am going through the same thing although my drivers door wont open from inside or out!! Everything is intact which is leading me to believe it's stuck down below on the door striker??? Does that at all sound possible? I have a Lexus ES250, and the way the doors are you can't get to the bottom screws with the rear passenger door being open. What do I do to free it up off of the striker any ideas???? Ty for your help
