Why do my headlights burn out every couple of months? - 99 Solara

I have to replace the bulbs in my 99 Solara about every 2-3 months.

I have used the cheapest bulbs and the most expensive with the same results.

I am careful to not touch the glass with my fingers as I install them, use electrical grease & put the boots back on.

Why does this happen?

I do have a "haze" on the inside of the lenses, not sure if it is moisture or not.

Do I need to clean the lenses?

Stu

What were the cheapest bulbs?

What were the most expensive bulbs?

Need names and model numbers to offer more insight on this.

I am not sure what bulbs I used.

However I went thru 2 sets of the standard Wal-Mart bulbs.

After those burnt out, I got the "basic bulbs" from checker.

After those burnt out, I bought the best I could get at carquest.

I doubt that it is a quality issue. Even the crappiest bulbs should last for a few years.

The only two things I can think of that shorten bulb life is Heat or Overvoltage.

I do have a "haze" inside my lenses. Do I just need to clean them out from the inside?

like you said, check the voltage going into the headlight...

How often do you use the headlights? and does moisture get in when it rains?

haze should have nothing to do with it.
