What year is your car and what do you have first of all? Silverstars are very good bulbs and way brighter and cleaner than stock.

Can any of you TO or Southern Ontario guys give me the location (address) of a CanTire that carries the SilverStars ?

I randomly faxed a detailed request to a TO CanTire store for them to ship a pair to an Ottawa CT for me - haven't heard boo from them

Here's why...

The losers at CT up here look on the computer and say...

CT: "Yes we have them...oh sorry they are CoolBlues...what did you want?... oh we can't get them"
Me: Can you order them in for me?
CT: "Uh, what is the part number...gee that doesn't show up in our system"
me: I don't know the CT part number, just the Sylvaina # 9006 ST
CT: "No, still doesn't show up."
Me: Can you ask another store in TO to ship them up here [while waving CT credit card]?
CT: "Umm, you'd have to call one in TO and give US the part number - the phone numbers are in the back of our catalog."
Me: Gee thanks [walking out of store] >

Did you try Walmart? The two CanTire in my area do not have them (nor the CoolBlues).

If you want a set, maybe you can get a bunch of guys on your side of the boarder to chip in to make shipping worth while and I'll pick you up a whole box of them.
They sell them every where around here.

If you're interested and really can't find them any where and want me to help, I don't mind.

Just lemmy know and I'll find them as cheap as I can.
I got to pick up some taillight bulbs on my way home tonight anyway.

Walmart has Phillips as a supplier - I've never seen Sylvania products there, believe me I've looked

Now, are the Phillips High Visibility bulbs as good at Silverstars ? Anyone ?

They are priced higher than the BlueVision's (which I have 9006's of right now) - do they perform better than or equal to the SilverStars ?

Thanks,

Thanks for the offer - too complicated for me though - I live too far from Toronto - I'd be paying for 2 lots of shipping...USA-TO, TO-Ottawa

I'll see if CanTire can come through for me.

Straight from one of the links from the TTCC links page...

--------------------
What is the brightest halogen bulb?
For the 55W marked segment, sorted in order of brightness:
+50%: Philips Vision Plus (achieves its extra performance by increased luminance, not lumens.)
+30%: Philips Premium (a.k.a HiVisibility in NA)
+20%: Osram/Sylvania Xtra Vision, Osram/Sylvania Silverstar
+0%: Philips Bluevison, Osram/Sylvania Cool Blue, Osram/Sylvania Halogen Plus, and OEM bulbs like GE.
-10%: PIAA Superwite
If your car is set up for higher wattage bulbs, Philips Rally bulbs will give more lumens than most asian overwatts. Be aware that lifetime of a Philips Rally bulb is ~100hours - so keep some spares in the glove compartment. Philips bulbs are availble from http://www.powerbulbs.com or http://www.autolamps-online.com
Narva bulbs are also top notch. Narva is a daughter company of Philips with one intention: compete with top notch products on the aftermarked. Philips themself are OEM oriented.
--------------------

I used to have BlueVision, they're just whiter (not any brighter than stock). HiVisibility are brighter than stock.

Have you consider Philips HID from Autolamps? They drop the price a bit from $600 to $499, still seem high to me. One of the reason that hold me back is how much glare will this make and if there's too much glare, I mean I may blind the oppsite direction cop car, this could mean trouble.
