Sun Visor Problem

I have searched and I haven't found any info on my problem. So I was hoping my fellow Camry owners could help me. I have a 2007 Camry XLE with the new body style. It just went our of warranty in June. Now my sun visor is hanging down just sorta of floppy and the fabric is starting to pull away from the mirror. I was wondering if there are other owners having problems with their visors or if they are any TSB on this problem. I found the general TSBs but I cannot read them at work they are blocked. The local Toyota dealership doesn't want to fix the problem under warranty. I feel like it has been only a month and a half and they should take care of it for me especially since I have purchased five Toyotas (not all from them) but I am a very good customer and I take all my maintenance to them.
Thanks for any help, Wes

I would go higher to Toyota USA and mention how overall you are quite pleased w/your local Dealership mention the Managers name.
If we think of it the dealer is just "handed" these vehicles by the bigger entity.
Good Luck it should work.

I am experiencing the same issue. '07 Hybrid with 54K but only 2 1/2 years old. Went to my dealer and the service writer pretty much blew me off, said I would have to pay $145 for a new visor because it was out of warranty. Asked him if there was anything he could do on the price and he just shrugged and said "nope". End of discussion. This is not a part that would fail by mileage so there's no reason that Toyota should at least make an effort to meet us halfway. In fact it's a part that shouldn't be failing at all, and I suspect that it will turn out that many more of these will turn up, and Toyota at some point will issue a TSB or extend the warranty coverage on this item.

Thanks CJCride and Kuladog for the responses. I agree with you Kuladog, I don't expect a visor to die after three years. I buy Toyota because I expect quality and to be taken care of. My dealership had great service people and they ran them all off. Now it looks like they hired people to just bring in the money. I have purchased five new Toyotas so you would think they would take care of me. I have a Toyota 4 wheel drive truck that will be 23 years old in December and the visors are in perfect shape so I expect my expensive Camry XLE visors to last longer than 3 years. Thanks for leting me vent. I have been working so much that I haven't had a chance to call the national Toyota company or go to the dealership and see if they will do anything. Over the phone the dealership did not see to care. Good luck with your visor problem Kuladog. Wes

I just got my 2007 CAMRY LE fixed for VISOR issue. It was hanging on the driver side hampering vision, so had to tear and pull it off.

Went to the dealer, just two weeks left in Warranty. As per them it is a very common problem, apart from other issues with cars starting VIN 4****. They also said that the VISOR was defective in design with no screws, just glued to fabric...

To your point on Toyota quality, it is a known fact that the quality has nose dived in the recent years..

Here is an update on my car. I figured since I probably wasn't going to win the warranty battle, I searched online for Toyota factory parts and found a few websites selling the sun visor for around $70-$75 plus shipping. So I started calling dealer's Parts departments in my area and found one who was willing to match the online price (list is around $95), I just said I'd rather buy it locally than from an online store. It's supposed to be here tomorrow.

Interestingly, the parts manager said that he had four other Camry sun visors on order at the same time, he acknowledged that it's a fairly common problem. I'm still going to write a letter to Toyota USA and see if I can get some kind of refund, but I'm not really expecting them to do anything considering how much money they've been losing lately (just like all the other auto manufacturers).

Sunvisor Story Ending

I just wanted to let you know how I ended up with my sun visor issue. I called the Toyota Corporation and told them of my problems. They seemed like they really were interested. The more Toyotas you have purchased the more they will do for you. They could verify three of my Toyota purchases out of the five I have bought. This seemed to make a big difference with them that I was a loyal customer. They took my info and told me to get a quote from the dealership to replace the visor. Before I could go to the dealership that Saturday the service manager was calling me and wanted to know about the bad experence I had with his service advisors. I did not talk with him because he left a message. I went to the dealership that Saturday and got a quote and the service guy said the service manager might take care of it for me. I called the service manager Monday and told him the story and he said he would take care of it. So they took care of everything for free and they called it "Customer Goodwill". I was very pleased with the way they handled it. I don't know what the Toyota corp. said to the service manager or if he just decided to take care of it, but at first the service advisors just said I had to pay and that was it. It was my fault I didn't talk to the service manager at first but the service advisors were so uncaring I just was turned off. Thanks everybody for the responses and I wanted to let you know I had a happy ending. Good luck everybody with your sun visor issues. It never hurts to call the Corporation. Anybody doing searches on sun visor issues, please take into the dealership when you first have problems. I had problems when my warranty was still in effect and I didn't take it in because I could pull it down all the way and push it up and it would stay in place. I never thought it would die completely and just hang down in the way of your view to drive. Thanks for all the advice.
