Hard shift after fluid change

I recently had my dealer change the transmission fluid on my 1999 Camry automatic transmission. I've noticed that the feel of the transmission shift from 1st to second is much harder than before. Shows up more when accelerating at a slower pace.

Should I return to the dealer for a re-check or is this normal with fresh fluid? This is the first time I have ever had the fluid changed so I have no previous experience to compare.

Thank you,
Bill

You could check the levels to make sure it's good to go, but most likely the fluid just needs to work itself in... which can take awhile in cold weather. If it doesn't go away after a day or two of driving I'd have them check it out, make sure they put in the correct weight and such.

The same thing happened with my manual after the 60k tune-up on 2/17. I'll give it some time to adjust before panicking.

I had been doing a fair bit of driving today, so I pulled onto some flat ground and checked the transmission fluid level.

I found the dip stick very hard to read though. Pulling it up through that curved tube seems to prevent a clean fluid level reading.

However, after several tries it looks like the level is a little higher than the two v-grooves for hot level. Could too much fluid in the transmission cause me to have a slightly harder shift between gears?

Thank you,
Bill
