97 Camry LE replaced motor = Check Engine light

Hello all, my inexperienced nephew killed the motor on his 97 Camry and we had it replaced with a 97-2001 motor and it's running nice now, however the check engine light is on and the mechanic says he thinks it's the idle-air sensor/valve ?? He says it's a lil bit different from that of the 97 motors?

Does this make sense and has anyone experienced anything similar?

I would like to have that Check Engine light off now that the motor has been replaced. Thanks.

1) did you reset the CEL after you put in the engine?

2) go to autozone and get the code scanned for free.

The mechanic said it's a 2000 Camry LE motor.

I don't get it?? If it's a motor swap, then why does it have a Idle Air Controller give an error (that's the code he says its' giving?) He said the model years for this Camry is 1997 to 2001, and the motor is a 2000 so the IAC is different !?!

Any suggestions?

I'm really being a nice uncle and helping my full-time college nephew with his car.

--Oh, if anyone has a green driver's door handle, he needs one as his is broken. Thanks.

Camry 97 engine is alot out there, u should get the same one so u wont occur any problem. IAC is sameshi-t.

I think its something cause CEL to turn on, go get the code scan and we'll figure out the problem together.

Your nephew is a racer ? get him a turbo engine.....
