Toyota Transmission Types....

Does anybody have any clue what the last letter on Toyota transmission codes means? Specifically in regards to autos.

I know that in A140L the A means automatic, and the 4 means the number of gears it has. But what is the L?

I've seen A140Es, A140Hs, and A140Ls. I know that the newer Camry's gave A54x transmissions. I wanna know exactly what I have in my 2nd Gen I4. The ID sticker says it's an A140L.

I would like to know if this tranny can take the power of a 1st gen 3S-GE (135 to 160hp).
