swapping gauge faces

question:

when swapping out the old gauge faces for a new one... how did you guys remove the needle that points out the MPH and RPM..?
those things are a pain to pull out and I think I threw off the calibration of my spedometer. now I think it goes 10mph too fast. any other suggestions on pullin' them things out?

thanx...

if you're just using the "slip cover" kind (the ones that don't have mechanical parts attached), you just slip the needles through the center holes.
