Squeaky Brakes

Ahh damn brakes are really annoying me. I drive a 91 toyota camry dx v6 and I tried cleaning the front discs rotors and didnt help. I think i need new pads and shoes. I dunno how to change shoes so a tutorial or a site that could help me would be nice. Thx

find an empty road, accelerate to 70mph ish, and apply heavy braking for a couple seconds, do this a couple times and they shoudl be deglazed

you can also get some anti squeek stuff at autozone or pepboys or whatever, i've seen it around, but i've never used it

edit:

when does it squeak? when you're driving at low speeds with very little brake on? if so then its your wear indicator on the pad

how much of the pad is left? you can also try roughing up the brake pads a bit with sandpaper, you might be able to get them to seat better (use a block of wood behind the paper so its a flat sanding surface)

I have the same problem but at low speeds. Even AFTER changing the pads. It sounds like this:

::squeek::::squeek::::squeek::::squeek::::squeek:: ::squeek::::squeek::::squeek::::squeek::::squeek:: ::squeek::........etc.

When I speed up the sound speeds up then dissapears. Until I slow down that is.

The wear indicator is that piece of metal that scratches against the rotor when the pad is worn down to the last 1/8" or so. My brakes squeek after I change the pads and continue to do so for a while. It eventually stopped the last time I changed pads, but hasn't this time (haven't driven car in over a week though). I figure the next time I have my brakes done I'll just have a professional do it, pads, shoes and all, front and back. I think I need new shims too.
