CV Axle vibration

Would a bad CV axle make a front tire vibrate so much it feels like you going over a rumble strip? I purchased a 1995 Toyota Camry LE 4cyl with less then 70K on it. Ran great for weeks and then the right front tire felt like it was going over a rumble strip. The momentum of the car is slowed or sticking. Then about a mile later it stopped. It has been coming and going and hard to explain to the mechanic what it is doing. Seems to happen after going around a sharp right hand turn. Once when it was doing it I put the car in neutral to see if it was the tranny, still did it. I actually put the car in neutral and shut the engine off and it was still doing it. Not the tranny or motor. Really a hard thing to explain to a mechanic because it comes and goes.

Any feedback would be helpful

Having a very similar problem on my 93 wagon. I work at a Saturn Dealership and the general sentiment here with the techs is that it may well be an axle vibration, but this car has so many suspension issues it literally could be anything. If you find out what it is for sure it would be helpful information to have.

Could be a bad CV axle. Could also be a wheel bearing. At only 70k miles, it's kinda early for either one.

did you ever hit the front right wheel on a curb or anything? I have a very similar problem with a 2005 Camry SE V6. Last two times it popped up was after a right hand turn.

It feels like you're on a rumble strip or feels like a flat tire, correct?

Jacked up the car and tried twisting the wheels by hand, didn't like there was any play. However, this was after the vibration went away. Something could be coming loose and then retightening.

Did notice that when the front wheels were lifted above the ground and ran the car that the wheels were moving up and down. Is this normal when there is no weight on the front wheels?

CV. Joints tend to make a rattle noise when going around a corner when they are bad. Not what you are describing. Unless they are real bad but it would be constant. Check the boots. Actually the mech would of done that. maybe wheel bearing but that would be constant as well and more like a loud roar or grinding noise. I am thinking possible transaxile? I mean your mech clearly put it in the air. He would of spotted the cv or bearing right away. I guess he would of checked the tires as well, for belts coming out? He did check the thing on a lift right? The idler arms all linkage is good?

Lots of guessing here more questions than solutions I am afraid.

would call that a list of to checks.
