1998 Camry Stereo problem
I have a 1998 Camry LE. I had a smog test done recently and the check engine light was on. The mechanic reset whatever needed to be reset so the light turned off and the smog test passed. When I received my car back my stereo system had no power (i.e. on/off button didn't work so no radio). I told the mechanic that he must have done soething to it because this happened after he reset my check engine light. The mechanic claims that he didn't do anything to it but it was unusual that this problem occurred after he reset the check engine light. Now what's really strange is that, even though I have no functioning radio, I am able to insert a CD and it will play but no other controls are working. The volume adjustment works but that's about it. No working control of the track changing buttons, no working equalizer buttons, no working forward/reverse buttons. Only the eject button and the volume (which is the same button for the stereo power on/off - ???). I checked every fuse I could find on this car and all fuses were good. I don't want to pay a lot of $$$ to take it somewhere where they'll correct this problem if it's a simple thing I can do myself.
Does someone have any suggestions on how I might find out why my stereo seems to be only HALF working? The wire connections of this stereo system doesn't seem to be too easy to get to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
