Question sounds like howling spirit.mp3

So, I've racked up about 19,800 miles on the car as well as the tires which it came with(215/R16 Toyo Proxes J33) and have started noticing a low howl/hum at around 70mph. Pretty sure the noise isn't from the engine since it's not there when running similar RPMs at lower speeds...

I checked the tires and they have 1/8th of an inch left of tread. The tires are high performance summer tires, but I've been running with them in cold, wet weather for the last 4 months and no problems till now. Treadwear is a meager 200, but still-- doesn't that mean it should be good for up to approx. 60k miles??

Any info/suggestions are appreciated.

usually 200 tread wear tires are only good for 20-30K. they're so soft that even if you moderately flog your car on the mountain twisties you'll kill the tires in no time. also make sure that your alignment is ok cause if your camber or toe is messed up your tires will die ever quicker.
