I get it. Its annoying when the questions has been answered many times, but why waste your time posting "wrong answer" "do a search". That's annoying too. Do me a favor if I ask a question that has been asked before. Either help or just don't chime in at all. "Do a search" is not helping. When you search out some questions it can take a while sifting through all that crap. Give some of us a break. Asking people top speed of their car and payments per month is annoying to, but I give them a brake. Leaving now so won't be able to defend myself for a few hours. Flame on!
Yeah I totally agree. I'm pretty new to TN, and someone just did that to me. I guess when they post responses like that they're expecting some type of reaction...LOL! It's all good though
Instead of the usual rude 'Do a search' answers, maybe pointing them in the right direction is a better approach. I came from the Gen 3 forum and guys in there were a bit nicer. Sure we can remind them to search, but some of you gen5 and 6 posters are insanely rude and immature.
At some point we were all newbs. We have some members that can offer a whole lot of knowledge, but to be brutally honest I see a lot of e-thugs who think they are above it all.
Cut the new ones some slack, sure we all hate the fifty-zillion "will this tire fit my car?" threads... but I am just as sick and tired of seeing the assholes flame the new guys.

all i can ask is new members keep to looking be4, n other need to help instead talking $%$ n being RUDE to them. i been here over a year, so need any help let me know.
Agreed. The man has a valid point, and there have been a number of complaints about bad attitude in this section. It comes down to what your mother taught you (or should have), that if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all. Cut a little slack some times and we'll all benefit from it.

If you have a question, you SHOULD do a search 1st to see if you can find an answer. If you can't find the answer you're looking for or it becomes way too tedious to track it down.(which happens alot),
then you should post your query and in it state that you already did a search (to avoid the flames.)
I do believe in helping out whenever I can, but people should at least make an effort 1st. If I happen to know the answer or know where it is, I will post a link. I mean, thats why were here-to help each other.
As a Mod, I don't like seeing someone posting right off the bat-DO A SEARCH. especially to the Noobs
I'm surprised some people aren't given some time off for being jerks on a consistent basis for no good reason at all. Maybe the moderators should have a discussion to promote more people on joining the forum and the overall feel of the forum. I understand that there is a fine line and there are times that people do deserve idiotic replies because of the context of the thread they started. However, the constant negativity really does not help the community as a whole.

Yeah MR2Jedi I feel you on that. Trust me...I don't mind doing a search. However, I figured the main reason why people join TN is to get info and advice from other Toyota owners without necessarily having to do a search for the information first or at all for that matter.
Anyway...I'm sure I'll get used to the different types of responses from people the more I log on participate in the threads.
If you have issues with searching, if you can't find what you need etc etc...PM Me...i will be more than happy to help you find your answer...and let you know if the topic has been covered. If it hasn't, i'll let you know and by all means start a thread.
I used to be an ass and just say "do a search" Now i say do a search but i also do a search for you and provide one or two threads on the topic to help you get started.
But feel free to PM.
We're all hear for the same reason...and Mod's are here to help more than anything.

^ yeah, some of the forums have 1000's of post on the same subject with alot of non essential info in them. In can be an overwhelming task to sift thru it to find what you're looking for.
If you're new to this it can certainly be overwhelming. People can still politely " suggest" a search, while still pointing them in the right direction and offer some kind of help. If someone is "irritated" by someone not doing a search or asking a redundant question- then that person doesn't have to help or even click on it. Just leave it alone and go on your grumpy way.
And yes, any member can PM me for anything-except money, drugs or sex(unless you are Lauren or Laura)

i hate this mentality...its like when people ask "what wheels should I get?" they just want someone to say, get these wheels, in this size, with these tires...
a lot of the posts that i read here make me mad, because people are just plain lazy. read some, try to find the info you need, rather than just being like a baby and expecting it to be spoonfed to you.
and there are some jerks on the forum, but there are a lot of incredible stupid posts and incredibly stupid posters...
Just throwing an additional point in the discussion. It would help everyone who searches the forums if members would post titles that are more specific to what they're talking about. A hypothetical example would be someone posting a new thread about changing a timing belt and showing the photos of the process, but he puts in a title called "Working late on my 05," "How to change a timing belt with pics" would be a better, more helpful title...really. Sometimes I change a thread title that's too vague and more often than not catch hell for it, well damn it write a decent thread title in the first place!
There needs to be some mid-ground reached here among everybody, to help out each other and the forums so they run more smoothly and it's a cool place to visit. Just an additional two cents.

You know, I do have a complaint about the "Intro " threads, dude! It's in plain sight that there are plenty other Intro threads already, I mean gosh, you don't even need to search!
No really, for fresh, really fresh faces, I try to search for them and give them a few links, then ask them to do a search the next time. Now if I happen to see someone isn't rookie and has had a few posts already...well, you should know better if it's you.
I agree with Jedi, there is no problem with asking for help if you have tried a resonable amount and still can't find your info. People will go out of their way to try to help you in such cases.

Beats my why they do it. I guess they have no life than to click on posts that they know have been answered so they can not answer them. It reminds me of Monty Python.
