2000 Camry Timing Belt

Hi, I'm changing the timing belt on a 2000 Camry, and I wanted to make sure I didn't need anything extra, and the parts are okay. I called the Toyota dealership and got quotes on the water pump and timing belt, which were $124 and $49. However, I go on rockauto and see prices for the pump range from $30-$50, and the belt from $15-$35. Are any of the brands on rockauto reccomended? Also, do I need to buy the tensioner and pulleys as well? Any parts I'm missing will be helpful. Also, I have a 300ftlb impact gun to remove the crank pulley. Is that strong enough?

Quite opposite! Rockauto's catalog is very inaccurate. I have been burnt three times by them!
Plus you need to consider that almost no aftermarket may compare to OEM. You can try online OEM sites.

Good luck,

Sam

The only water pumps I could find from the OEM sites include the housing. This makes it upwards of $80. Are there any ways to get an OEM pump without housing?

USA

So I ordered everything from 1st toyota, which was MUCH cheaper than from the dealer. Here's a list of what I got:

- timing belt
- idler pulley #1
- idler pulley #2
- water pump w/o cover
- wp gasket
- thermostat
- thermostat gasket
- crank case seal
- oil pump seal
- O-ring for WP

Did I miss anything? It ended up being about $250 before shipping. Half of that was the idler pulleys...

I doubt you have an impact with enough power(need 800). Use a strap wrench with a breaker bar on the end over the pulley. Put sand papper under the strap. You can use a chain strap but ouch on the pulley

that sorta came out wrong a breaker bar on the nut and a strap on the pulley is what I should of said sorry
