Question Door Lock from outside when engine still runinng!

Dear Toyota lovers. I have a question please!

I bought a toyota Land Cruiser 2010 and it cost me an arm and a leg, VXR which is supposed to be the fullest of the full of options, apart from one anoyying thing I could not find out how to deal with it.

I quite often leave my wife and the kids in the car while the engine is still runing to get them some drinks from a shop or some candies for the kids, especially when it is hot and I need the aircondition on and the rear DVD entertainment for the kids on, but I wish to have the doors locked so that I can be sure no lunatic jumps in and drive of with my family. Most nice cars which I used to own previously have a front passenger switch that locks the doors from inside so no need for the passenger to reach all the way to the driver's switch to lock the doors.

Of course the new VXR model engine starts remotely with a switch remote key.

Can anyone here tell me if he could do that in the new camry which engine starts with a remote switch? I mean how can you lock the doors from outside while you carry the remote key with you?

---
Please don't remove my post to the Land Cruiser forum becasue this is a general Toyota question and besides, the Land Cruiser forum is deserted... LOL it is a 4X4 car for a desert so I guess even its forum is empty like a desert!

I imagine (and I do not know for sure) but your dealer should be able to reprogram your key/car (will actually be the car) so you can lock the car with it while the engine is running. But now the down side. If you mess up and lock that car with it running and no one inside..... well you get the complications.

An of course the new laws about leaving cars idle and such.....

Edit: probably right through the OBD

many thanks Judge for taking the time to answer my question...

What you mean by OBD? And if my wife can reach (although not easily) to find the driver side door lock switch, why on earth Toyota did not put another one for the front passenger like all decent cars. The car costs over 70 K USD and the switch would probably be less than 20 t0 50 bucks. Alternatively they can put the switch in the middle right under the Hazard signs switch, right?

Sorry about my ranting. I just found it annoying that little mistakes like these happens with good cars from good car makers!

Cheers for your answers anyways!

OBD On Board Diagnostic. The dealer can take car of it. And after further thought if they can remap the setting for key fob you should be able to carry spare key in your pocket and lock the door with it while car is running with primary key.

My car does not come with a key. Only remote keyless entry. Anyways, I guess, my wife has to reach all the way and go under the steering wheel to find the driver's side door lock switch to lock the doors and as soon as I come back she has to go again and unlock the doors again..... That is stupid of Toyota really!

As I said, they could have put the switch under the DVD on the dashboard midway between the driver and the passenger. Why they did not do that, is beyond my understanding. As the passenger seat should only be occupied by an adult or a teenage, so no harm by putting it in their reach.
