People have always said that because the IS is a RWD car, the rims will not fit a FWD car. However, from reading the specs of rims for the IS300, I've come to the conclusion that IS300 rims will fit on the Gen3s and Gen4s.
If you look for wheels for each of the cars at http://www.discountiredirect.com you will see that the fitment specs ranging from 38mm to 45mm on 7" rims are common to both cars.
The stock IS wheel is 17 x 7, and I'm 99% sure that its offset is 45mm. So it should fit the Gen3s and Gen4s with no problem, although the high offset will cause it to be recessed into the wheel well further than wheels with a lower offset (e.g. 35mm).
Any thoughts??

Well, lets find someone with an IS300 and try it, can't hurt right? I wonder, I have a friend who works at Heffner Lexus-Toyota in Kitchener, maybe I'll talk to them this weekend or next. Hmmm... Maybe some unsuspecting IS300 owner will be on cinder blocks soon!! LOL

But I'll give props to them for making IS430 <-- that's da real sh**!
Someone on ClubLexus has IS300 rims on their ES300. Although they look nice, I personally wouldn't put those rims on a FWD car...even if they do fit with no problems.
I don't understand, Ryan. If the fitment is the same, those wheels could just as well have been on the ES300 or any other model as OEM rims. Just because they started on a car which happened to be RWD, doesn't mean they should be only be on another RWD.

Look at it this way. They do have the same bolt pattern, but with the different offset, The wheels and it's weight distribution to the hub, the wheel bolts and the axle have changed. So really, you are adding unneeded stress to those parts. I've heard +45 and i've also heard +30 for the IS300 wheel offset. Whatever it is, the OEM Camry rim sits at +40 or to be exact +43.

Is this the OEM Gen 3's offset, +43???
Thanks, yeah, I know this is an old thread, sorry to bring it back to life, I don't have a manual by me cause I am at school right now...
i think kocho and someone else has the IS300 wheels on his gen4 but one needed a spacer and one didn't...i was told gen5 offset is 45-46mm, sorry I don't know gen3..you could email tirerack and discounttire.com, see if they give you matching info

I got '01 IS 300 17x7 rims on my '00 Camry LE i4. The offset of the IS rims is +50 mm. With 215/17-45 tires they fit. With my 215/50-17 tires they DO NOT FIT. Simple as that.
The rear tires rub the struts and need at least 3 mm spacer for the 215/17-50 tires to fit. With my 5 mm spacer I got about 2mm clearance to the strut.
I do not use a spacer in the front. The front driver side tire rubs a little on the inside of the fender (towards the engine) when turning all the way to the left. Basically, it rubbed-off the rubbery rust-proffing/sound deadening in the fender well where it touches, down to the primer on the metal. The passenger front wheel has no problems.
No need to guess - this is what I have on my car now.
Chek my other post about vibrations as well. Putting the spacer on the rear makes it tricky to center the wheel - it is no longer hub-centric and it is by no means lug-centric either (again - tested it myself - I can have the rear wheels as much as 2 mm off-center due to the clearance that exists between the lugnuts and the rim holes).
So, in conclusion, yes - they fit if you stick to a smaller than Camry OEM overall diameter tire, which translates in less bulging on the sidewall of the tire. If you want to keep the stock diameter you need to either get a narrow tire or if you want anything more than 205 width, you'll need a spacer at least in the rear (215/17-50 is as close as you can get to Gen 4 OEM diameter in 17 size); you will rub with some tire brands, you may be OK with others (Continental ContiExtremeContact is what I have - they bulge-out and they rub the strut without spacer in the rear).
But they do look good on the car
Cheers!
