bad injector can break an engine

and to have your opinion about this. Did anyone of you know that ?
My engine got rebuilt some time ago, I did the engine swap myself and had brought the engine to a repair shop. The engine "apparently" died because of a bad injector giving way too much fuel, ruining a cylinder and its segment, this fuel being mixed with oil caused a lack of lubrification and rod bearings died. I know this seems crazy but that's what an expert told me. Seems quite scaring since I didn't get any oil light and there was actually not any way to prevent that. Does that kind of problem often happen ???? !!!!

Yes. Running lean would cause the valve heads to melt due to high temperatures, and running rich would be bad according to what you said.

I don't believe OBD2 or any ECM can detect that, correct me if I'm wrong.
