Winter Driving

I have a 2009 Camry. I absolutely love the car. Now comes the however. This car is absolutely the worst car I ever had when it comes to driving with snow on the road. Even with minimal snow on the road I can pull out, the car wants to slide off the road. I have been driving for 40 years and I am really concerned when the snow starts to fall.

I recently added mud and snow tires for the winter and the car is no better. Has anyone else had the same problem or could there possibly be something wrong with the vehicle.

Thanks

Seems odd, are they new snows or old?

Winter Driving

Brand new tires.

I had rear wheel drive cars years ago that handled better. I love the car but I will never buy another. I need the car for work ( sales ) and live in the Notheast US so winter is 4 months long.

Really odd, I am not sure where, but I posted about how well my Camry handled.

My Camry sits on the chassis before your gen cam, but she handles great in the snow on good old A/S.

Do you have the stability and traction control on? I know that newer models have an on/off switch(but not sure what newer models). Are you sure it's on? Probably is, but figure start simple and work your way up.

It's the front wheel drive. You'll have to get used to it. Had the same problem years ago when switching over. Steering and drive wheels don't belong together. JMO

Tire make is "Primewell PZ900 BL 215/55R17" never heard of them but they are what the lease company authorized. The tire dealer stated they were a mud and snow tire.

Streaker,

Have been driving front wheel drive cars for years, Gran Prix (2), Impala, Taurus (several), Intrepid and many rental cars. Have been going to Buffalo for 18 years and rented many front wheel drive cars.

Let someone else drive it and see if they have the same problem.

After the new year I am going to let my boss drive it when the weather is bad. He has an older Camry. I might go to the dealer and see what their opinion is. Probably think it is me.

I recently installed Firestone "WinterForce Tires", on all four corners, & it vastly improved my 1993 LE-V6's snow worthyness!!!
