Is it worth upgrading the ECU?

Hello, I have a 5sfe 3rd gen camry. I am currently running an intake, headers, and an APEX exhaust system. Is it worth it to upgrade my ecu?

Thanks in advance,
Calvin

I dont think an ECU upgraed is AT ALL usefull unless you are swapping engines!

Just get an SAFC and tune your AF mix on a dyno...that will give you all the power a new ECU would!

I can get deals on these...PM me if you need one!

I wouldnt uprgrade your ecu unless your making alot more horsepower than what a intake and exhaust will give you ... I only see upgrading you ecu when you've done all your basica upgrades and half way thru your head mods ( i.e. port and polished, aggressive cams, custom manifold...etc)

A fully reprogrammed ECU will do wonders on your car (wonders being about 30-40hp for about $1000. The problem with most chipped ECUs (jet, etc...) is that they don't actually tune it directly to your car. If you tune the ECU on a dyno for about 4-5 hours (pretty spendy) it can make a huge difference. The little resistor that the ebay link shows will not do much to your car, and may reduce horsepower depending on the conditions in which you are driving your car. If you are looking for a fully tuned ECU (and you can make it to SoCal) I would check out TechnoSquare www.technosquareinc.com. The guys down there can do a good ECU reprogramming job...but I won't lie, it won't be cheap.

Yeah you need to have it tuned for YOUR engine.

No two engines are the same....the air and fuel in your part of the country are diff then here...

Tuning is just that...you gotta TUNE...

Like you TUNE a guitar every time you pick it up!
