New Head Unit - Antenna question

Hey, I'm new to the forum...

I just installed a Pioneer head unit in my girlfriend's '93 Camry. Everything went fine except for the smaller cable next to the factory antenna cable. I searched the forum and, from what I found, believe that it's for powering the automatic antenna.

My question is how would I go about getting power to that cable (if that's what it's for) without cutting the wire. If anyone has pictures or info on it, I'd appreciate it.

The antenna is currently not extending and there is no AM signal. Most likely because it has no power and insufficient signal strength.

Thanks

No, that cable is the diversity antenna, it's not used to raise the antenna. You need to connect the blue wires together from the radio's harness to the toyota harness adapter.l

couldn't tell you the colors anymore, but if I remember correctly, it takes 3 wires for the power antenna to work properly...

Thanks, I'll have to pull it apart and check. Is the diversity cable needed for normal operation?

No. Most aftermarket units just have the main antenna socket, but if you find one (very rare) that has another socket, it doesn't hurt to plug it in.
