Question Distributor question?!?

Okay I'm changing out the coil in my '91 4cyl, and I've already gotten the cap and everything off, now I'm down to the part where I have to pull the distributor off in order to remove the damn phillips head screws that hold on the coil. I know by doing some searching that I have to mark the distributor so that when I re-install it, it will be "right." My question is...what exactly do I mark in order to insure a proper re-install. Also any other tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance-brad

You could try using a permanent marker and just draw a line from a point on the base where the cap screws on to the head itself, these two marks should line up exactly when you put it all back together.

Doesn't need to be anything fancy just make sure the mark on the distributor and on the head line up during reassembly!

Be aware that even thougth you are marking its position, you should still check the timing once its reinstalled.

Got all the new stuff installed and my baby cranked right up, back on the road with my 2fast 2furious 2nd Gen diesel. Not really a diesel but it knocks like hell so people ask me "Is that a diesel?" Hell yeah baby, propane injected Camry. Thanks for all of the tips and info fellas..
