What is a breather? I've read that an intake coupled with plugs, wires, and a breather can help performance. What is the cost of a breather, and where is a good website to get one? Costs? Thanks...I'm dumb with cars, but enthusiastic.

Your talking about a crankcase breather filter.

Normally theirs a hose connected from the valve cover to the throttle body. The purpose of this hose is so that fumes from the crankcase are vented back into the intake.

Your not gonna see any performance gains from getting one. The only thing is that your throttle body won't get dirty as fast cos those fumes aren't depositing carbon onto it.

Some ppl say that you loose crankcase pressure if you have one but, I haven't noticed any difference.

I have one on my engine but, i'm using it cos I have a turbo and I want to vent the crap off so it doesn't build up on my throttle body and the turbo increases the crankcase pressure anyways.

Breathers tend to hurt your car more often then anything...Leave everything like that as stock as possible because they become clogged so quickly if you don't realize you can be slacking your performance...
