help with light mods....sigh....

hey ppl...I got a long yet funny story to tell you...go to the bottom for my questions about the mods....

I got Neon (Forum member) to help me get some white 194 for my gen 3 sidemarker(parking light). As you all know...the stock one gives off a very...brownish yellowish light.... Well he end up getting me some white LED 194 by Polarg. Sucky thing is the output was bluish purplish which in result...looks really bad...

So Neon and I decided to put the bulb somewhere else...and the story begins with taking out the faceplate for my P-N-R-D-2-L ... everything goes right and then we dropped a screw into the car But we manage to change the bulb in there which was a 194 and now I have white lights for my P-N-R-D-2-L... as for the screw...we continue taking the armrest out and the the compartment underneth the glove box...then the part under the steering wheel just to take the entire faceplate out...to find the screw...lol....

afterwards since we still have one bulb left...we took the entire dash out to see if I can my A/C buttons or the my knob for my heating controls...but unfortuneatly...they all used some either type of bulb which looks like a mini 194....we then work are way behind the gauges and took out the connector for the light for the speedometer... we kept trying to pull the light out of the socket but it was stuck...but eventually we did...to realize...the bulb was suppose to be stuck onto the socket (we broke the filament ) Anyhow this morning I manage to do a little mod and got the white LED into the socket...and will put them onto my gauges shortly...then after I'll have white gauges...yay.

all that work in a garage at night with 2 cars in the garage....and cold....how great...if it wasn't for the blue/purple output..i wouldn't have went thru this....

Anyways here is my questions:
1. Which 194 bulb can actually give me a...bright white (snowy white) rather than the blue/purple tint... I don't mind if there is a bit of blue tint...but I don't want it to be noticeable...very minor

2. What is the small bulbs used behind the A/C buttons, glove box, etc...on the FAQ they have the part number...but I don't want to buy them from dealer because they are yellow bulbs.

2a. If I can't get those small bulbs...is there a way I can tint my bulbs with some kind of paint to make my output more bright and white

3. Are there any dome lights which are abit white but mainly bright...this is mainly for my trunk...because there is not enough light during the night...

4. Most new cars have these "disco ball" lookalike thing on their light bulbs...what are they really call and what are they for? Is it possible to buy them and connect/mod them onto 194 sockets?

Thanks for your patiences ppl.
I know I'm boring....
But anyhow...thanks again!

2) If they're the same as they are in my car, which I'm guessing they are, look for a #74 bulb.

1) If you have the clear corners/bumpers, any bulb you put in will give off a slightly tinted color bulb.

I personally, use PIAA "Xtreme HID" whatever the hell that means...since it doesn't really appear HID-color-like at all...

www.extremeredline.com

^ That's where I got 'em and as for the color, they're slightly baby-bluish behind the lenses. But barely noticeable. I wish i had a digital cam so I could show you.

Hope this sort've helps.

If you use these dome lights , you might want to check these Luxeon Dome Light modules out. I have three of these Luxeon dome light modules in my truck and am very happy with them. They use Lumileds Luxeon Star leds and they are bright. We use these leds for making and modding flashlights.

I originally had some PIAA dome lights in my truck and these Luxeon dome light modules outdo the PIAA's. Also, talk about the low current draw properties of LED's...

Here is a pic from that site of the actual Luxeon dome light module:

Any tint or paint on the bulb will decrease the brightness of the bulb.
