Camry starting problem

Hi,
I have a 95 camry 4cyl auto transmission. The engine will turn with the key, but will not start. I have removed the spark plugs and grounded them on the engine and tested that they all have spark. The fuel filter was just replaced by me and have tested the fuel pump and it is definitely working. If I turn the engine over with the EFI fuse removed for about 10 seconds and then replace the fuse, the first few turns I can hear the engine respond and go through combustion, but then will stop right afterward. I have to remove the fuse again before I can induce that effect again otherwise it'll turn nonstop without any result. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

I tried looking into the diagnostic under the hood but the code that was provided was one for normal operation. continuous blinking about 2 times a second.

Did you check the timing belt?

What color was the spark? Orange color indicates a weak spark. A good spark should be blue in color.

thanks for the replies, it was the timing belt causing the issue. I ended up removing all the covers and aligning the timing belt, after correctly aligning the timing belt however, it ran poorly. Noticed even with correct timing on the belt it was firing at the wrong time. It appears someone previously changed the position of the distributor and that was the reason. After adjusting the distributor and checking with the timing light it appears to be at the right timing and is running much better. I had ended up solving the problem before reading the responses but I appreciate the help anyway. Does anyone know the exact position the spark should fire for the 4 cylinder. there were 2 notches on the 10 BDTC and that's where I set it to but it's not 100% smooth, occasional missing. Certainly usable but any small malfunctions usually bug me. May just try replacing the plugs for the hell of it.

The best way to answer your question about which notch is the proper one for 10 degrees BTDC is to refer to a manual. You can download a Toyota factory service manual for free at the top of the Camry forum over at AutomotiveForums.com. Download the generation 3 manual.,
