Should i buy at 96 Camry XLE?

Hello, I am new to this forum and i have the opportunity to purchase a 96' camry XLE with 53,000 miles. Its going up for sale in a couple days and i just wanted to know how much should be paid for a car like this.

Just a few notes about the car, car is in pretty good condition, its not perfect as its 14 years old but is in good condition for the age, no rust. It is a 4 cyl, has a standard audio system, has leather interior, the color is a dark red and it does have a sunroof.

I am not trilled about the 4 cyl, but is it a good car to buy?

Thanks

The car is at an estate auction and is going up tomorrow, blue book says between $3700 and $4400 or something, and i was seeing what would be worth paying for it.

I would recommend to check ebay, especially completed listings for the same car. May give you an idea about fair market price.

Get as much information as you can and then go to KBB.COM or EDMUNDS.COM to get the real value of the car.

As a side note I have owned since new, a 94 Camry XLE with the 2.2 liter 5SFE 4 cylinder engine (92-96 is the same generation). I would rate it as the best car I have ever owned. I currently have 93,000 miles on it. It's not perfect, as no car ever is, but it has been the most trouble free car I have owned. YMMV. That said, a lot depends on how the car was maintained. Any maintainance records available on the car?

Mike

$3000. 4 cylinder is not bad, plus it does not have the engine sludge issue that plagued the V-6. Seems to be a good deal.

Thanks for all the responses, the car went up for auction today, it went for $3700 plus a 20% buyers premium, maybe a decent deal but too rich for my blood, plus the interior was trashed, 14 years of smoking and not being cleaned took its toll. Again thanks for the replies
