How hard and expensive would it be to rebuild the beast, or if anything has anyone ever gone thru and changed all there seals and gaskets, thats my biggest beef with the motor right now is its startin to leak, and wouldnt ya know it drips right down on the exhaust manifold YEAHH for smellin like oil. Thanks

got mine rebuilt by the toyota service dept... it was about $2000 for all top end gaskets to be replaced. my 3vz blew a head gasket at 162K, and i didnt have the garage or the time (school) to rebuild it. runs like new now though!

probably would be easier to swap- but its impossible to find a brand new 3vz. so the only way to get a like-new 3vz is by a rebuild...

So what all would it intale to rebuild this beast, maybe I dont need to i dunno, I at least got to get that bitch to stop leakin oil, i think its commin ou the real valve cover seal, thatrs the one drippin on the manifold anyway, any of you ever replaced that, and also its leakin out of the cam seals. those little circle seals on the drivers side of our motor, i beleive one is around the distributer, you know about any of this.

If the valve cover is leaking its just a matter of removing it, replacing the gasket, and bolting it back on.

The cam seals are on the left side of the motor behind the camgear / cam pulley.

Theres a cap that goes over the top of the distributor. It bolts onto the head, so you can't get to it without removing the valve cover. It could be leaking from there or around the distributor shaft (theres a o-ring on the distributor).
