Right now, my cam's all stock. I just got my check this week (I get payed weekly) and it was only $66. Next week's check should be more, and same for the following.
Any suggestions for a sub-$66 mod? I really wanted to go performance with this, but I can't fulfill either of the two things I wanted to with $66. Any actual performance mods available for $66?
My other option is to save the money and pickup either the ultra s or build the cai with next week's check added onto this.
Originally posted by Oldman strut tower bar, diy cai, diy hypergrounds, that's some pretty good stuff for under 66$
DIY CAI went up in price since the guide, which even then had it slated for $70. I was going to pickup a bypass valve to go with it (since it's been very rainy out lately), so I can't really even afford that yet.
Whoops, I found the thread on hypergrounds. Seems decent. Any suggestions for materials?
I kind of got confused when everyone started talking about the distribution boxes. Someone said you just replace all the grounds with thicker gauge wiring, but then it's also mentioned that you need to use a distribution box. Thanks for all the help so far.
lol week to week is tough bro..id say wait till the end of the month and spend a larger amount
$66 bucks won't get u much but then again i did my intake for about $50 so definately a good place to start...definate improvement in engine tone
you actually first have to decide which area u want to improve
since u mention performance..do u mean speed or handling?
for handling definately some things to think of are strut bar, springs, struts, tires, rims, camber kit, etc..
for acceleration intake, exhaust are always a great first mod
decide which direction u want to go first before just jumping into mods...remember search around the forums..definately some great diy stuff for peeps on a budget...gl~!

I've done quite a bit of research and the CAI is high on my list. If you look at my sig, you'll notice both pre-planned mods are for acceleration. IMO, the handling of my camry's perfectly fine. Exhaust is a bit expensive, considering I want to do it right (header, cat converter, muffler and tips).
I'm not looking for tone out of anything, more actual boost.
I'm trying to ideally get some good low-end push out of the car. Right now, high-end flys but getting to the high end is considerably slower than I'd like. I know between the CAI and the UD Pulley, I'll be doing quite well.
I'm thinking the UD pulley and the hypergrounds combined will be quite an improvement.
12 feet of heatshrink is a bit much. You only need around 1" per ring terminal. Also, the 1/2" 2-1 heatshrink might be a little big for 8 gauge. I would go with the 3-1 stuff, #080-640, it will shrink smaller. I'd say get two packs of 3-1. That would be plenty.
For crimping large terminals I usually my linesman pliers, and if that doesn't work, you can always use a hammer and/or a vice. The only crimper on there that I see that would be sufficient is $35.90, so I'd say don't get the crimper if you want to stay under budget.
