Question Guess this noise.... Torque Converter?
1999 Solara 4 cyl automatic.

Sometimes the transmission will not engage when shifting to any gear. Shift linkage is OK, trans fluid is OK.

Does the level of fluid on the dip stick drop when the car is running? Compared to the car off?

Actually I found the problem while removing transmission. The 8 bolts attaching the drive plate (flywheel) to the crankshaft were loose.

I have some more questions but I will make a more detailed post in the proper section.
