You'll need to get torx bits to take out the 2 torx screws, which are located behind pry-off pieces on each side of the steering wheel.
However, I would personally never take out my airbag to put in an aftermarket steering wheel without one. Also, without the driver side airbag, the passenger airbag (if you have one) will also not deploy. It's fine if you want to take the risk of not having the protection of an airbag, but why should you take that away from your passengers? Are you willing to put their lifes on the line as well?

you'll have a hard time convincing me of that. When I had my accident and rear end a Cherokee at 70km/h my air bag didn't even deploy.
Jeff, do I have a lawsuit here!
There is a controversy with "repackaged" air bags. I wonder...

When I bought my car, the dealer told us there was an airbag. I hit a deer, no airbag came out.
Getting the car fixed: "Theres no airbag in this car, it has been taken out already!"
The dealer who sold the car to me has been out of business for a while now, but I'm still trying to get my parents to get some money out of them. The title is in my parents name and they bought it for my sister, so it is technically their car. Airbags only save you from the windshield glass, if it shatters, and the steering wheel. But if you wear your seatbelt properly and drive carefully, one will not run into this problem.
The seatbelt saves your life, if there is no seatbelt on, the airbag does nothing!
My 92 Cam has an airbag in the steering wheel, but my car was made in Japan in July 91. That little warning on the sun visor say to have it "checked" every year after 10 yrs. What will they do to check it ?
Also, it being an early, EARLY first-generation air bag, couldn't I get hurt anyways (i.e. it deploys a lot faster than the new ones). I ALWAYS use my seatbelt - aren't airbags meant for lazy US drivers (4th amendment right to NOT wear one)?
I'd love to cut the SRS off and get a cool steering wheel
