Talking worst or best idea ever? you decide!

guys, my shifter cable was broken when i did my engine swap... the little sheath on the shifter side had been broken so it was not keeping the wire running straight. so when i put it in, i made a little bracket to keep it holding together. this bracket failed, and i ended up with a bent cable... so i straightened it out, got a piece of 5/8 inch threaded rod from home depot, and 3 nuts for it. i drilled a hole down the center and cut a slit in the side to get the wire into the center... then i cut a slit into the side of each of the 3 nuts. to get them over the wire... so then i came up with this little ghetto part on my car...

but the good news is... i have shifter cables on the way from toyota so it isnt gonna look like this for too much longer...

heres a pic of my little ghetto part what do you think? best or worst idea ever?

also, this shifter is from a 1990 celica as well as the cables... i got the back right bolt to fit in, and i had to drill a hole for the top right bolt only 2 bolts, not four
