got my rippmods headers installed today on my 2000 camry 4cyl. The sound was not that much louder, but it is there...must be my greddy evo exhaust that is drowning out the header sound. but around town, i can definitely tell the difference. not sure how much HP i gained, but the torque seemed to be the biggest gainer. the car seems to accelerate from a stop with much less effort...which is always a good thing

cool, man... how much did you get it for and how hard was the installation?
i got them from rippmods, and they were $449.95. shipping was about $35 (from NY to TX). i think rippmods have discounted it a little, since the regular price was $479.99 (well, that's what the guy on the phone said).
I had my mechanic install it for me. he had to weld some of the parts on, and i didn't have any tools handy. installation was about $150. A little pricy, but i trust these people, so i rather pay the exta $ and not worry later on.
the only downside to the headers were, i thought i'd get a better, deeper sounding tone from them. i did not drive much yet with them installed...maybe i just haven;t paid enough attention to it.
yeah $600 is quite alot of money, but i already spent about $500 on the greddy evo catback, and about $175 for the injen intake....better complete the package with some headers, right?
augcam, i really want the s/c kit, but probably not in the near future. low on cash now...wonder why? but 225 whp is pretty sweet to have with a s/c
i think he had to weld the new catalytic converter on to the pipes. the rippmods came with an aftermarket cat that replaces the stock, but i don't think it'll affect my emissions test or anything. plus the kit was missing one item (i think it was a head gasket??? not positive), but my mechanic got it for me for $30..so it's ok. but i'd thought rippmods would be better than that. plus, they had NO instuctions in the box...just the items. even though they said it was "a direct-bolt on," my mechanic even said it was a pretty hard job. for those DIY guys, some instructions would have helped.
since the $30 dollars was to replace the gaskets, i wonder that is one of the reason why that the rippmods was slightly cheap without the gasket and the other stuff...

hahha, that would be funny if rippmods really did that. but that would be pretty crappy too. I think they probably just forgot to include it...giving them the benefit of doubt.

how long did it take the mechanic? did you watch him?
about 2.5 hrs. he had to wait for the new head gasket to come. I did not watch him the entire time, got hungry so walked over to subway for a while
Yeah 150 is kinda pricey...but its piece of mind as well. I installed mine myself on my 92- it wasn't terrible but I needed a breaker bar and it didn't bolt right up. I had to get a cat installed and the 02 bung(if your car has 2 O2 sensors). All in all its just easier for a shop to do...you are gonna have to take it to one for at least part of the installl..unless you have a welder.
I noticed the power more in the mid range and a little in the upper..I can notice a difference but its not huge and mine sounds different to me esp at high rpms.

Damn $600 for the header system. Wow, really pricey, I spent like $300 for my Bosal Brospeed headers and installation was $120 that includes welding on a high flow and connecting everything together. Also the mechanic also welded a 02 bung for me as well.
yeah it was kinda pricey, but i wanted to get a direct bolt-on from rippmods. Didn't want to go through the hassle of "making" one fit. Plus, this will be my last mod for a while (need to save my money for other, non-car related stuff).
hey calvin327, how does your bosal brospeed header sound? I mentioned earlier, i can tell a sound difference with the rippmods headers, but the sound is not as deep or loud as i was hoping for. it sounds more like a quiet, supercharger-like whine...not what i had imagined it would be
