3sgte swap like Wraith is crazy and worth the time and money and yea.. like UfoZ8myCo said.. props to anyone who does it. Rippmods SDS is also worth all the time and money but its a lot less in those parts and gives you good reliable power with alot of options to upgrade and alot of doors opened to get alot more power. Both ways are great.. i went the Rippmod SDS route because i just dont got the time, money and experience to do a 3sgte swap... if you have those then sure why not.. if you dont then go with Rippmods SDS ! i love mine plus its one of a kind.
Kool, thanx for the advise, looks like I am going to go with the Ripp SDS. I thought that I might be able to drop the 3sgte in for about the same money as the SDS setup, but it doesn't look like it.
yea actually i had it dynoed on 5.5psi and my cars an auto, i got 151hp at 6000rpm and 152ft. lbs. tq at 4000rpm.. big jump from stock and on the street is badass.. i love the pull from the torque at early rpm and at high end it kills ! pulling all the way up to 6000rpm.. pulls hard enough at high end from 80mph to leave my brothers MR-S 10 - 15cars behind and going up past 120 easily . I wanted to get more hiden power out of the engine at the same boost plus i wanted to upgrade things so i can boost more later so im in the middle of my build up atm and shooting for around 200hp and more torque at the same psi when im done im sure to have everyone updated as soon as its back up !
6-10 grand yikes ~
oh yea, i'd go with RIPP S/C
but anyways what about turbo?
it seems like no one has really perfected the turbo for a 5sfe engine or what???

yeah, if you can't do the labor yourself and have a gen 3 or 4, you are gonna come out of like 5k. You figure 2k-3k for a clip. 1000 for custom $hit they gotta fabricate and extra little stuff(like new clutch, maybe flywheel, etc.). At least Another 1000 for labor plus whatever you must pay for shipping. That is if you have a 5 speed and do not have to do a conversion. You are gonna come out some loot.
I know just for my auto to manual conversion I spent like 2300 because I wanted aftermarket clutch, flywheel, etc. There is a lot of little stuff you end up paying for also you don't think about at first. labor was 850. And I only paid 150 for my tranny.
RIPP mods S/C all the way. Ross has done is R/D and it pays off.

personally, unless you're planning on doing some internal work to get higher numbers w/ forced induction, I'd just do a straight i4 to v6 swap like zoni has done....
same numbers as w/ a snail or a blower, but w/ more reliablitiy, and a good torque curve (don't know about the i4 w/ forced induction tho)
but if you want to forge some internals, etc and go big big and don't mind spending $$$, then you should get a turbo cuz htere's lots more potential there
and if you just want a simple, pay one set price, then get the s/c from rippmods

Coming someone who use to be there ... I would rather invest my money on a Supra. But since I've already spent sooo much money into this car. I'm not the type of person who just gives up. So I'm trying to finish it... As for the swap and your really determine to do it. I suggest having at least $5000 to $8000 dollars readily available because thats what its going to cost with all the new stuff you have to buy ...
SDS is the cheaper more reasonable route. But, if you want to join the ranks of the few. And alex in the 3s-gte camry ranks going right on ahead. Theres also a 5s-gte but this will require the same for the 3s-gte swap and you'll have to fork over the extra cash for the custom machining, custom forge rods, and custom pistons...
Either way Good Luck...
